Floral, delicate, aromatically

Sourced from the Vanilla tahitensis orchid, grown in Tahiti and Papua New Guinea, Tahitian Vanilla is prized for its fruity, floral aroma with subtle liquorice-like notes. The pods are soft, oily, and visibly rich in seeds - ideal for applications where aroma and elegance matter.

It's cool to care, so here's why we love vanilla so much:

Vanilla is one of the world's most prized - and misunderstood - ingredients. True vanilla comes from the vanilla planifolia orchid, a flower that blooms for just a single day. Originally native to Southern Mexico, it was pollinated only by the tiny Melipona Beecheii Bee.

When explorers brought the orchid back to Europe, they had the plant but not the secret. It took over 300 years and the brilliance of a 12 year-old boy, Edmond Albius, on Reunion Island and enslaved at the time, to discover how to hand-pollinate the orchid using a sliver of bamboo - a technique still used globally today.

From pollination, a pod takes 8 months to mature, before being blanched, sun-dried, wrapped and cured for weeks. The finest beans - less than 15% of the crop - are hand-selected and matured again. From flower to finished bean, the process takes 15 months of dedication and craft.

This is not just a flavour. It's a story of resilience, care and craftmanship. And one of the reasons vanilla continues to inspire chefs around the world.

Orders received after 4pm will normally be processed on the next working day.
